The majority of the venues offering Hunter Valley day spas are in the district stretching between Branxton and Cessnock. Pokolbin and its famous vineyards are in the dead-centre of this district.

Practised specialists at the different spas administer muscle-relaxing massages, facial and body treatments that quickly soothe away the pressures of hectic lives. Waxing, hair saunas, pedicures and manicures are among optional extras.

The larger facilities in the resort hotels boast saunas, spa baths, heated indoor pools for winter use and outdoor pools. Using these facilities and relaxing between the various treatments in beautifully maintained gardens makes a day at the Hunter Valley day spas a thoroughly cathartic experience.

The management at the Golden Door Health Retreat claim its Spa Elysia is the biggest in the country. Every imaginable treatment is available at Elysia and with 26 different rooms, it has plenty of space to accommodate numerous patrons at any given time. A specially designed Watsu pool and a 25-metre indoor pool are highlights here.
